Seattle is one of the nation’s most interestingand beautiful cities. As such, it is a great place to take the kids on a family vacation any time of the year. There are parks, beaches, museums, and many other attractions that your kids will love. Below are two fan favorites.

The Seattle Children’s Museum is a very popular destination for families with children 5-6 years of age. Located in Seattle Center a short walking distance from the Space Needle, the children’s museum has many different activities for kids to enjoy. These include:

  • An arts and crafts room that showcases paintings, drawings, and the opportnity to make a clay sculpture or use recycled materials to build something unique.
  • An area known as the “glocal village.” Here kids can visit places around the world such as Ghana, Japan, and the Phillipines, among others. It’s s truly cultural experience.
  • A staging area where kids can form a group, dress up as whomever they want, and put on a play for the adults.

The Seattle Aquarium is right on the waterfront. There is a special tank where kids can touch starfish, sea urchins, and other sea life. Another exhibit shows what a salmon run would look like. There are also exhibits for seals and sea otters, both of which offer feeding shows a few times during the day. These feeding times also offer a learning experience about the animals and the kids can even feel an otter pelt! And don’t forget to visit the exhbiti inside where there is a big octopus on display!

Tips to Reduce Jet Lag During Travel

Jet travel can bring on some undesirable effects when on a long trip. Set your watch. If your trip will last longer than a day or two and the travel crosses two or more time zones, set your watch to the destination time zone as soon as you take off. You can plan your meals and sleep schedule based on the new time. If the trip is only for a day and you are returning to your home time zone, it often makes more sense to keep your watch and your schedule for meals and sleep synchronized to the time at home.

Rest. If your new time zone is earlier than home, it may be a challenge to go to sleep hours earlier than your body may be used to. In this instance, try to allow the same number of hours of sleep that you normally get. If you can go to sleep a little earlier than normal and rise a little bit later, your feeling of fatigue should be lowered.

These two tips can make a big difference in your travel. Being alert and productive on a trip has benefits-even if you don’t have the lives of 200 passengers on your hands. Take it from the pros.

We are often concerned with property values, safety, quality of schools and sometimes transportation comes in at the end of the list. The point is that transportation can have a huge impact on our time and budget. If we live far from the job or shopping, these numerous trips can add up to thousands of extra dollars spent for fuel, taxi or other public transportation in addition to thousands of hours spent on a commute.

Living near a job is not always possible. There are many factors involved in choosing the final location. One thing to consider is proximity to major roads or public transit hubs like train or bus stations and stops. Being close to these items can yield big savings in both time and money. A good location can also leave you options. You may not need to drive your own car to work each day. If your schedule allows, you may be able to take the bus or train several days each week while driving on some days to allow you to drive to lunch or do some shopping on the way home.

It Pays to Stay Current on Insurance Needs

One can reap big savings by adjusting their level of insurance as their needs change. It’s not easy to keep this topic in mind-especially as major life events are happening.
